Create a Cupcake

After seeing all the great cards made with the Create a Cupcake set I finally broke down and added it to my last order.  I'm really glad I got it.  I've been having a lot of fun playing around with the set and coordinating Build a Cupcake punch.  For this card I kept the layout pretty simple.  My color combo is Crumb Cake, Baja Breeze and Not Quite Navy.  The DSP is from the retired pattern Parisian Breeze.  I think that was the name of it!!  I hope SU adds more textured DSP in the next catalog.  I added a scallop punched border.  I punched a circle of Not Quite Navy card stock and then embossed it with my Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  The sentiment is also from the Create a Cupcake set.  That's another great thing about this set, it comes with some really nice birthday greetings.  I added a few pearls to finish it off.  Thanks for stopping by!

Ice Cream Parlor Aviary Congrats

I'm having fun playing with the bright color combo from the SAB Ice Cream Parlor DSP and buttons.  For this card I stamped the birdcage from the Aviary set and then punched it with the Decorative Label punch.  I inked the edges a little so it would stand out against the background.  The sentiment is from the set Something to Celebrate.  I embossed the Whisper White layer with the Framed Tulips folder and then sponged on a little Pacific Point ink.  The color combo is Mambo Melon, Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point.  I added three little buttons to finish it off.  Thanks for stopping by!

Funky Four Little Flower

Here's a quick card I made using the little flower from the Funky Four set.  I colored this with my markers in Not Quite Navy, Pear Pizzazz, and Peach Parfait.  I got this color combo from my SU Color Coach.  It's not one I would normally put together but I think I like it.  I stamped the flower on a Kiss Note.  These little notes were in last year's Occasions mini.  Gotta use them up!  The polka dot DSP is from the hostess Pattern Pack.  The sentiment is from the hostess set Something to Celebrate.  I just love the font on this stamp!  I used my Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder on the background piece of Pear Pizzazz to continue the polka dot theme.  I finished it off with a pearl in the center of my flower.  Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Cupcake

I haven't done much coloring lately so I decided to pull out my Crazy for Cupcakes set and my Watercolor Wonder Crayons.  I just got the updated colors in my last order.  I'm loving having all my colors again!  My color combo is Marina Mist, Pretty in Pink, Daffodil Delight and Crumb Cake.  The sentiment is from the Something to Celebrate hostess set.  The DSP is from two different packs - Sunny Garden and Tea & Crumpets.  I diecut the Pretty in Pink floral pattern with the Tasteful Trim die.  I added some pearls to my cupcake and finished with some ribbon and a brad.  Thanks for stopping by!

Edited to add - There was a question regarding coloring on the Crumb Cake card stock.  I colored directly on the card stock with my crayons and then blended slightly with my blender pen.  You have to be careful with the blender pen because it can cause the card stock to pill.  I started with the lightest color and gradually added darker colors in various places for shading.  Blending very carefully each time I added a new color.  Hope this helps.  It's a great way to color even if it is a little time consuming.  Colored pencils would work the same way and probably wouldn't need as much blending.  Maybe I'll try that next time!

Curtain Call ACT 70 Challenge

I haven't played along with a challenge in quite awhile.  I was doing some blog surfing this morning and decided I wanted to give the color challenge at Stacey's Stamping Stage a try today - Curtain Call ACT 70.  The combo is really fun and bright - Tempting Turquoise, Tangerine Tango, Pear Pizzazz and Whisper White.  I used another stamp that's available as a SAB choice this year, Tiny Teacup.  I stamped in Pear Pizzazz and then punched the teacup with the Decorative Label punch.  I layered that on a punched circle of Tangerine Tango.  The buttons are diecuts.  I got the Button Sizzlet awhile ago and haven't used it much yet.  I need to pull it out more often.  It's so nice to have a button that matches my project exactly!  The DSP is Island Oasis from the Summer mini.  I punched a border with the Scallop Ribbon punch.  Finally I stamped my "hello" and punched it with the Jewelry Tag.  Thanks for stopping by!

MDS Jamaica Sunset

I don't know about anyone else but I'm starting to get a little sick of winter!  Here in the Adirondacks we still have at least 2 more months of winter.  Boy is that depressing!  So I decided to post this page I made from our vacation to Jamaica last year.  I can't wait to go again!  I kept this page pretty simple because I wanted the picture to stand out.  The sunsets were so beautiful in Jamaica.  For elements on this page I used the Medallion stamp, an antique brad, and a clip with a little ribbon.  To give the background some dimension I used the Vintage Overlays.  Thanks for stopping by!

Funky Four Birthday

Here's another card I made with my SAB feebie set Funky Four.  I stamped the mushrooms on a scalloped rectangle mat in Baja Breeze, Peach Parfait and Cherry Cobbler.  The floral strip is a from the SAB DSP and Quick Accents freebie called Ice Cream Parlour.  I added a strip punched with the Scallop Ribbon punch in Baja Breeze.  The Whisper White card base is embossed with the Texturz embossing plates.  The diamond pattern is a little hard to see in the photo but it's really nice in real life.  The sentiment is from the hostess Level 2 set Something to Celebrate.  I added some ribbon attached with a corduroy button and finished it off with a few pearls.  Thanks for stopping by!

Edited to add - There was a question regarding the scallop rectangle I used to stamp the mushrooms on.  This is a retired SU product.  They are called "Hugs" notes.  They were in last year's Occasions mini.  Hope this helps!

Birthday In Stitches

I've been playing around with the In Stitches wheel on my last couple projects.  I really like these stamps.  I also showed them at my workshop yesterday and I think almost everyone bought the wheel.  These stamps are great for cards and scrapbooks!  For this card, I stamped each stitch individually.  I personally prefer to unmount my wheels.  I also cut the stitches apart so I can stamp them one at a time in various colors.  I found that lining the stamp up on my grid paper really helped to stamp straight.  My color combo is Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Pink Pirouette and Tempting Turquoise.  My sentiment is from the hostess set Afterthoughts.  The little flowers are from the set Itty Bitty Bits and punched with the coordinating punch.  My sentiment is circle punched and layered on two die cut flowers from the Island Floral die.  I punched a strip with the Spiral border punch.  This is a punch I don't use all that much.  I'm not sure why because I really like.  Gotta use it more!  Thanks for stopping by.

Spingtime Vintage Aviary

Here's a card I put together using the Aviary stamp set.  These little birds are so darn cute!  The DSP is Springtime Vintage from the Occasions mini.  My color combo is Rose Red, Pear Pizzazz and Very Vanilla.  The scallop border is cut with a Sizzix die.  I used my Itty Bitty Shapes punches to punch two Rose Red flowers.  I glued some Itty Bitty buttons to these and added a little linen thread.  Thanks for stopping by!

Sweet Valentine

I decided to make a few Valentines and here's the first one.  I stamped the Canvas background stamp in Whisper White and then heat embossed that with white embossing powder.  I punched them out with my Heart to Heart punch.  For card stock I used Mambo Melon, Tempting Turquoise and Wild Wasabi.  I popped the hearts up on dimensionals for some added interest.  The hearts are mounted on a scalloped rectangle.  I also used the Scallop Border punch along the bottom edge of the Mambo Melon mat.  The card base is embossed with the Square Lattice folder.  I added some ribbon and fastened it with a designer brad from the Sweet Stitches collection.  The sentiment is from the Level 2 hostess set Something to Celebrate.  Thanks for stopping by!

Sweet Scoops in Crumb Cake

Here's a cute card I made using the set Sweet Scoops.  I really hope this set makes it into the next catalog.  Its so darn cute!  I stamped the scoops in Crumb Cake, Pink Pirouette, and Early Espresso.  I used the kissing stamp that comes with the set to create the ridges in the ice cream scoops.  For the cone I inked it in More Mustard and then sponged some Early Espresso along one side to create some shading.  I used the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder on the background panel.  My little tag is stamped with the Tiny Tags set and then punched with the Jewlery Tag punch.  I embellished with some ribbon, a button and linen thread.  Finally I added a few pearls to the ice cream scoops.  Thanks for stopping by!

Colette's Workshop Scrapbook Pages

Here are the scrapbook pages I'm planning for an upcoming workshop.  I used lots of great die cuts on these pages.  My hostess is thinking about buying a Big Shot and she won't be disappointed!  For the scalloped edges I used the Tasteful Trim die.  My all time favorite die for scrapbooking!!  I added some flowers using the Daisies #2 die.  I used the Little Leaves and Swirls Scribbles sizzlets around the daisies.  Finally I added a few butterflies using the Beautiful Wings embosslit.  The stitching is stamped in Whisper White using the In Stitches wheel unmounted.  The color combo is Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke, So Saffron and Pretty in Pink.  I finished these pages off with a few buttons and some pearls.  I hope everyone has fun at the workshop!  Thanks for stopping by.

Sale-a-Bration Goodies

Here's my first card made with some Sale-a-Bration goodies.  The stamp set is one of the options from the big catalog called Funky Four.  I just love these little mushrooms so I was happy to see it on the SAB list this year!  I colored directly on the stamp with my markers.  I used Pacific Point, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Peach Parfait and Mambo Melon.  These colors are all in the DSP choice from the SAB brochure.  It's called Ice Cream Parlor.  The ribbon and flower button are also a choice this year.  I just love the variety of options this year.  Something for everyone!  I added a little pearl to one of the mushrooms to finish it off.  Thanks for stopping by!
